Peru boosts grape exports and launches rural women's leadership program

Peru is advancing both its agricultural export economy and social development initiatives for rural populations. The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) reported that Peruvian table grape exports reached approximately US$790 million in the first half of 2026, a 17.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Peru maintains its position as the world's leading exporter of table grapes, with the United States remaining the primary market at US$446 million, followed by significant growth in Mexico.

Simultaneously, the second edition of the International Rural Woman '26 Program has launched in Peru. Supported by the FAO, the United Nations, and Metauniversidad, the initiative aims to foster leadership and entrepreneurship among rural women across 13 countries. The program focuses on practical training in governance, entrepreneurship, and the application of artificial intelligence in rural settings, aligning with the United Nations' declaration of 2026 as the International Year of the Female Farmer.
