Peru deploys humanitarian aid to Amazonian and border regions

The Peruvian government has deployed humanitarian aid and security presence to vulnerable Amazonian and border regions. Defense Minister Rafael Belaunde visited Puerto Galilea on the Ecuador border to deliver eight tons of essential supplies and oversee medical services provided by the Armed Forces and Indeci.

In the Junín region, the government delivered 10 tons of aid to the Cutivireni Asháninka community, a historic site of resistance against terrorism. This multisectoral effort included health services, legal advice, and technical assistance aimed at families living in extreme poverty. The Minister emphasized that the Army will increasingly support regional development through infrastructure projects like roads and bridges.

Simultaneously, the Central Asháninka del Río Ene (CARE) has denounced institutional negligence in the Pangoa district. The organization is demanding investigations into the deaths of a girl and two infants, alleging that a lack of timely emergency medical evacuations by the Tambo Potsoteni program led to the fatalities. CARE is calling for sanctions against responsible authorities and improved emergency transport capabilities in the Ene River basin.
