Peru distributes 199,892 dengue vaccine doses to seven regions

Peru's Ministry of Health (Minsa), through the National Center for Strategic Health Resource Supply (Cenares), has distributed 199,892 dengue vaccine doses to seven regions to combat the spread of the disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

The vaccination campaign prioritizes children and young people between the ages of 10 and 20. The distribution focuses on areas with high incidence rates, specifically targeting Piura, La Libertad, Lambayeque, San Martín, Ucayali, Loreto, and Tumbes.

Lambayeque received the largest allocation with 59,000 doses, followed by Piura with 47,170 and Ucayali with 43,000. Other allocations include 43,000 doses for Loreto, 30,000 for San Martín, 26,160 for Tumbes, and 20,722 for La Libertad. Authorities ensured the vaccines were transported under strict cold chain conditions to maintain safety and efficacy.
