Peru Holds Community Justice Outreach in Tumbes and Trujillo

On July 22, the Superior Court of Justice of Tumbes organized a “Campaña de Difusión de Derechos y Justicia Itinerante” in the Casitas district. Court staff provided information on legal rights, explained how to access the judicial system, answered questions and aimed to reduce barriers for residents who find it difficult to travel to court offices.

In Trujillo, the Defensoría del Pueblo of La Libertad staged a public information fair at Plaza El Recreo to celebrate its 29th anniversary. Hundreds of citizens attended, and fifteen public institutions offered free guidance on human‑rights issues, filing complaints, and upcoming electoral participation. Representatives such as María del Carmen Olótegui and judge Carlos Gutiérrez highlighted the services available and encouraged greater community engagement with state mechanisms.
