Peru investigates violent threats against President Keiko Fujimori

The Peruvian Ministry of the Interior has referred a case to the Public Prosecutor's Office following the circulation of audiovisual material containing violent threats against President Keiko Fujimori. The investigation was immediately activated by the Counter-Terrorism Directorate (Dircote) of the National Police of Peru.

Authorities are working to verify the authenticity of the recordings, identify the individuals involved, and determine if there was any coordinated conspiracy. The investigation seeks to establish the context of the remarks, which reportedly targeted the President's life and physical integrity. One specific report mentions a virtual meeting where an individual, identified as Jesús Paredes Zegarra of the Moquegua Anti-Corruption Front, allegedly made violent statements.

Separately, in the Peruvian legislature, Deputy Catherine Palomino criticized the President for her social media activity, specifically questioning her focus on TikTok transmissions while the government seeks legislative powers.
