Peru Labor Minister recognizes Sutep as sole valid teacher union

Peru's Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Juan Sheput, has affirmed that the Sindicato Único de Trabajadores en la Educación del Perú (Sutep) is the only valid union interlocutor for the teaching profession before the government. Sheput stated that Sutep is fully legalized and operates within the democratic framework. He emphasized that his administration will strictly adhere to legal requirements regarding the registration of other groups, such as the Federación Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación del Perú (Fenate), and will not allow political favoritism in the legalization process.

In the Pisco province, Sutep leader Zoila Tapia Pecho is continuing efforts to advocate for teacher demands. Key issues include the approval of a Dignified Pensions Law, increased budgets for class preparation payments, and ensuring 85% payment for education assistants. Additionally, the union is calling for the delivery of laptops to teachers throughout the Ica region.
