Peru legislator proposes bill to accelerate water and sanitation investments

In Peru, Deputy Roxana Rocha Gallegos of Renovación Popular has introduced the “Agua sin demoras” (Water without delays) bill. The legislative initiative aims to accelerate investment in water and sanitation projects by simplifying administrative processes from technical file formulation to execution.

The proposal introduces a model of anticipated viability for standardized investments, such as water networks, reservoirs, and sewage systems. By utilizing previously defined technical solutions, the bill seeks to prevent the state from repeating studies and evaluations, thereby reducing the time and costs associated with processing. This approach is intended to help regional and municipal governments manage financing more effectively while maintaining existing environmental and water quality regulations.
