Peru mining sector showcases sustainability technology and records S/15 bn fiscal revenue
At the 27th World Mining Congress in Lima, Atlas Copco highlighted its long‑term presence in Peru and presented new sustainable solutions. The company promoted variable‑speed screw air compressors that can cut energy use by up to 60 % and demonstrated SmartLink, an IoT‑based remote monitoring platform now enhanced with artificial‑intelligence predictive maintenance.
Peruvian Vice‑Minister of Mines Gaby Julca, speaking at the 15th Latin American Tunnel Mining Congress, reported that mining fiscal revenues topped S/15 billion between January and April 2026. The sector created more than 278,000 direct jobs, attracted US$2.051 billion in investment—a 43.5 % increase year‑on‑year—and generated S/4.121 billion in royalties and fees that fund public infrastructure and development projects. Peru’s mining investment pipeline now includes 66 projects valued at over US$64 billion, reinforcing the country’s status as a leading global miner.
