Peru mining transfers reach record S/ 13,000 million

Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) reported that mining-related economic transfers reached a historic record of over S/ 13,095 million through July 2026. These funds, which support regional and local government budgets for public and social investment projects, consist of the Mining Canon, mining royalties, and validity and penalty rights.

The Mining Canon accounted for the largest portion, totaling more than S/ 9,564 million, marking a 36.8% increase compared to 2025. Legal and contractual mining royalties accumulated over S/ 3,251 million, while validity and penalty rights exceeded S/ 279 million.

Geographically, Ancash received the highest amount with over S/ 2,226 million. Other major recipients included Arequipa (over S/ 1,488 million), Apurimac (over S/ 1,446 million), and Cajamarca (over S/ 1,250 million). Together, these four departments accounted for approximately 49% of the total mining transfers recorded during this period.
