Peru Mucho Gusto fair in Tacna draws record 215,000 visitors
The 30th national edition of the Peru Mucho Gusto fair in Tacna recorded a historic attendance of more than 215,000 people over four days (July 25‑28, 2026). About 12,000 of the visitors were foreign tourists. The event featured 162 exhibitors showcasing the culinary, coffee, cacao, beverage and craft products of the country’s 25 regions.
Organized by Promperú in partnership with the Municipalidad Provincial de Tacna, the fair boosted the local economy, increasing occupancy in hotels, restaurant sales, transport use and retail activity during the national holiday period. Awards were presented for traditional dishes, innovation, regional identity and food‑safety practices, with the “Plato Más Querido” going to a pork rib dish from Restaurant Ochoa and the “Bebida Más Querida” to a cocktail from Waikiki Tiki Bar.
Officials said the fair reinforces Tacna’s role as a key hub for domestic and border tourism and underscores the importance of gastronomy as a driver of Peru’s cultural promotion and regional development.
