Peru Nazca tourist flight crash kills 13, including seven Italians FAST-MOVING
On 1 August 2026 a Cessna Grand Caravan 208B operated by Aerodiana departed Pisco airport for a sightseeing tour of the Nazca Lines. Shortly after take‑off the aircraft declared an emergency and crashed near the Pueblo Viejo area, killing all 13 people on board – 11 foreign tourists and two Peruvian crew members. The victims were seven Italians, two Spaniards, two Germans and the pilot and co‑pilot.
Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori expressed condolences and said the transport ministry was reviewing a possible temporary suspension of tourist flights from the Pisco‑Nazca route. The Peruvian aviation accident investigation agency (CIAA) has opened a technical investigation, while the governments of Italy, Spain and Germany are coordinating with Peru on victim identification and repatriation. The accident has also triggered a review of safety standards for tourism flights over the UNESCO‑listed Nazca Lines.
