On 1 August 2026 a Cessna 208 Grand Caravan operated by Aerodiana crashed near the Nazca Lines in Peru. The aircraft had departed the airport of Pisco around midday for a panoramic tour of the archaeological site. All 13 occupants were killed: two Spanish tourists, seven Italian tourists from two families (the Angelucci family of Seregno and the Gianturco family of Monza), two German tourists, and the Peruvian pilot and co‑pilot.

Peruvian authorities opened an investigation, citing possible mechanical failure, adverse weather, human error or structural failure. The crash prompted condolences from the governments of Spain, Italy, Germany and Peru, and the victims’ bodies were transferred to Ica for autopsies before repatriation.

The incident has deeply affected the communities of Brianza in Italy and the families of the Spanish and German victims, while raising concerns about safety in tourist‑flight operations over the Nazca Lines.
