Peru police officer dies following gunshot in Comas residence

A sub-officer of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), Dangler Pérez Urteaga, a member of the Águilas Negras squadron, died after being shot inside his home in the Los Girasoles condominiums in the Comas district of Lima.

The incident occurred on August 18. Pérez Urteaga was transported to the Collique Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the shooting. His wife, Helen Rosita Ariza Miñote, was present during the event and is a primary person of interest. She claims that following a physical altercation, the officer took his own weapon and shot himself. However, the deceased officer's father has challenged the suicide hypothesis and is requesting a deeper investigation into the matter.
