On Monday night two men on a motorcycle opened fire on a family house in the La Virreina urbanisation of Surco, Lima. Three bullets struck near the front door and one hit the garage door, but no one was injured. Residents said the attack might have been a confusion and demanded a stronger police presence.
A separate incident occurred in Callao when the same type of armed assailants fired several rounds at a chicharronería at the intersection of Quilca and Omicrón avenues. Eight shots hit the façade and one damaged a television. The owners have received threats from a gang calling itself “Los Mexicanos” demanding a payment of 10,000 soles, and they have closed the shop. Police have opened investigations into both shootings.
