Peru reports rising corporate profits and increased investment projections
Leading companies on the Lima Stock Exchange (BVL) reported a combined net profit of S/ 14,355 million for the second quarter of 2026, marking a 74% increase compared to the previous year. This growth was largely driven by the mining sector, benefiting from high international prices for copper, silver, zinc, and tin. Companies such as Minsur and Cerro Verde exceeded market expectations, while the financial sector also showed strength, with Credicorp and BBVA Perú reporting solid returns.
Parallel to these earnings, the Peruvian government has raised its private investment projections. Due to high business confidence levels and mining dynamism, the projection for private investment in 2026 has been increased from 5.5% to 10.5%. Mining investment specifically is expected to grow by 16.7% in 2026. Other sectors, including infrastructure, hydrocarbons, real estate, and renewable energy, are also expected to contribute to this expansionary cycle.
