Peru advances Corío Port and mining projects amid investment interest

Peru is advancing major infrastructure and mining initiatives to boost economic growth. The Corío Port project in Arequipa, estimated at $844.48 million, has attracted interest from investors in the US, China, South Korea, and Europe. ProInversión confirmed that the country maintains no restrictions on foreign capital for this project, which aims to transform southern Peru into a logistics and industrial hub by 2030.

In the mining sector, six projects in central and southern Peru, primarily focused on copper and gold, are projected to involve $5.2 billion in investment between 2026 and 2031. These include initiatives in Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Ica, and Junín. Additionally, the Peruvian industrial sector shows positive sentiment, with 44% of industrial businesses planning new investments in the coming months.

In the Dominican Republic, the government has signed a collaboration agreement with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). This partnership aims to accelerate the transition to clean energy and support the global goal of tripling renewable energy capacity by 2030 through the Renewable Energy Acceleration Alliance for Latin America and the Caribbean (Parlac).
