Peru SBS raises Deposit Insurance Fund coverage to S/123,000

The Superintendencia de Banca, Seguros y AFP (SBS) has increased the maximum coverage amount of the Deposit Insurance Fund (FSD) to S/123,000 per depositor. This new limit applies to the quarter spanning September to November 2026.

The updated amount represents a S/1,000 increase from the previous limit of S/122,000, which was in effect from June to August 2026. The adjustment is calculated based on the variation of the Wholesale Price Index (IPM) accumulated since December 1998.

The FSD serves as a mechanism to protect depositors if an authorized financial entity is intervened or liquidated. The coverage applies to nominative deposits for individuals and non-profit private legal entities, as well as demand deposits for other legal entities. Covered products include demand deposits, savings accounts, time deposits, and Compensación por Tiempo de Servicios (CTS), including accrued interest.
