Peru simplifies passport procedures for senior citizens
In Peru, the National Superintendency of Migrations has simplified the electronic passport application process for senior citizens. Under Agreement No. 24-2025, individuals aged 70 and older are no longer required to schedule a virtual or in-person appointment to obtain their passports.
This policy change is set to expand progressively. Starting in 2027, the appointment exemption will apply to citizens aged 65 and older, and by 2028, it will extend to those aged 60 and older. The modification to the Single Text of Administrative Procedures (TUPA) aims to reduce administrative burdens and improve service for the elderly.
The cost for an electronic passport for seniors in Peru is S/ 120.90, payable via the Banco de la Nación or the Págalo.pe platform using a valid DNI.
