Peru's Chamber of Deputies installs Parliamentary Ethics Commission
The Parliamentary Ethics Commission of the Chamber of Deputies has been officially installed for the 2026-2028 session period. Henry Albañil Carmona of the Partido Cívico Obras was elected president of the commission by unanimous vote. The leadership team includes Jessica Pérez Quispe of Juntos por el Perú as vice president and Harvey Colchado Huamaní of Ahora Nación as secretary.
The commission’s first order of business is the investigation into Deputy Julián Pérez Mallqui of Juntos por el Perú. Pérez Mallqui faces a fiscal complaint regarding alleged physical and psychological aggression against a former partner. Albañil Carmona stated that the commission intends to act with impartiality and without political protection, emphasizing the need for lawmakers to maintain irreproachable conduct.
Harvey Colchado Huamaní remains on the commission despite previously offering his position to the Plenary to ensure a productive working environment following recent questioning. Other members of the commission include Edwin Espinoza of the Partido del Buen Gobierno.
