Peru's construction sector projected to grow 9.4% in 2026, Capeco says
The Peruvian Chamber of Construction (Capeco) forecasts that the country's construction sector could expand by up to 9.4% in 2026, a figure close to the Central Bank of Peru’s 10% growth projection for the industry. The outlook is based on a company survey and a favorable investment climate, highlighted by an infrastructure gap exceeding US$120 billion and a mining project pipeline valued at more than US$50 billion.
Capeco stresses the need to triple formal housing production to around 200,000 units per year and notes that the Central Bank expects private investment to rise 12.5% in 2026. Key policy priorities include minimizing El Niño’s impact on infrastructure, releasing more than 2,000 stalled public works projects worth over S/70 billion, and securing funding for housing programs such as Techo Propio and Mi Vivienda. The sector accounts for just over 5% of Peru’s GDP but has a multiplier effect of 2.2 and directly employs about 1.5 million people.
