Peru's JNE issues credentials to newly elected members of bicameral Congress
The National Jury of Elections (JNE) began delivering official credentials to the deputies elected for Peru’s new bicameral Congress (2026‑2031) in a ceremony at the Colegio Médico del Perú, Miraflores, Lima. Among those arriving were Ernesto Zunini (Juntos por el Perú), Rosángela Barbarán (Fuerza Popular), Emma Yarrow and Roxana Rocha (Renovación Popular), and Harvey Colchado (Ahora Nación), who entered with his police badge after receiving the highest nationwide vote.
In a separate but related event, a senator and seven deputies elected from the La Libertad region received their credentials. Senator Víctor Flores Ruiz (Fuerza Popular) and deputies Gilmer Trujillo Zegarra, Leticia Leiva Baylón, Geanmarco Quezada Castro, Diego Bazán Calderón, Marino Lavado Valdivia, Nora Llaque Linares and Demetrio Valqui Calderón were handed the documents between June 25 and 26, enabling them to be sworn in.
Fuerza Popular will hold the largest bloc in the new lower house with 41 seats, followed by Juntos por el Perú with 32, as the six parties finalize the composition of the Parliament that will convene officially on 27 July, one day before the presidential inauguration.
