Keiko Fujimori was sworn in as Peru’s president on 28 July 2026. Within days she presided over the official launch of the countdown to the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games, pressing a red button alongside U.S. gymnast Simone Biles and Colombian parathlete Karen Palomeque. In her remarks she highlighted the event’s importance for national pride and regional cooperation.

The president also announced the recovery and deployment of twelve geomallas and 35 dikes in Santa Eulalia to protect vulnerable communities from the anticipated El Niño floods, pledging swift installation before the rainy season. In parallel, her government unveiled a US$20.6 billion transport programme to complete Metro Line 2 and build Lines 3‑6 in Lima, positioning the project as a catalyst for jobs and growth.

Fujimori marked the Day of the Judge and the Judge with speeches emphasizing judicial independence, meeting senior judges and stressing that impartial courts are a guarantee for citizens. She further promised to travel to regional areas, coordinate with ministries and accelerate state actions on security, infrastructure and disaster preparedness, presenting herself as a “woman of challenges” leading a unified national team.
