Peru's Midagri Ministry placed under 120‑day reorganization
President Keiko Fujimori's government announced a broad state reorganization, with the Ministry of Development of Agriculture and Irrigation (Midagri) as the first target. A Supreme Decree (No. 008‑2026‑MIDAGRI) placed Midagri under a 120‑day reorganization, tasking the Office of Modernization of the General Planning and Budget Office with a comprehensive diagnostic of the ministry’s administrative structure, budgeting, project execution, internal controls and integrity mechanisms.
The review will cover the central office, its subordinate units, programs and affiliated public bodies, seeking to identify duplications, coordination gaps, delays in investment execution and other management deficiencies. Any concrete changes—such as restructuring directorates, creating or eliminating offices, or adjusting programs—would require additional regulations. The measure is part of a wider agenda to modernize Peru’s public administration, improve efficiency, transparency and service delivery across ministries.
