Peru's Senamhi warns of cold wave and rain in Amazon region

Peru's National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi) announced that the sixth cold wave of the year will affect the country's Amazon basin from Sunday, July 12, through Tuesday, July 14. The cold air mass will first reach the Madre de Dios region and then spread across other parts of the southern rainforest, producing light to moderate rain, lightning, and wind gusts of up to 45 km/h. Temperatures are expected to fall to around 18 °C at night, with daytime highs ranging between 22 °C and 28 °C.

Senamhi continues to provide daily weather updates for major Peruvian cities, reporting current temperatures, humidity, UV index and wind conditions across the coast, highlands and jungle. The agency urges residents to stay informed through official channels and to take precautions against the anticipated rainfall, cooler temperatures and stronger winds.
