Peruvian agencies assess seismic risk in Mantaro Valley

Technical agencies in Peru are conducting assessments to determine the level of danger and risk in areas affected by recent seismic activity in the southern Mantaro Valley. Specialists from INGEMMET, IGP, ANA, Cenepred, and Indeci are evaluating ground displacements and ruptures in sectors such as Pumpumya in the Chongos Bajo district.

Preliminary results from these studies are expected between the first and second week of September, while a definitive report may take up to three months to complete due to the complexity of the evaluations. The findings will guide authorities in deciding whether to proceed with reconstruction efforts or the resettlement of affected families.
