Chile receives extradited suspects in Ronald Ojeda murder case
Two key suspects in the kidnapping and murder of Venezuelan former lieutenant Ronald Ojeda have been extradited to Chile. Rafael Enrique Gámez Salas, known as 'El Turko', arrived from the United States, while Alfredo Camilo Carrillo Ortiz, known as 'El Gocho', was extradited from Colombia.
Both individuals are allegedly members of 'Los Piratas', a cell of the transnational criminal organization Tren de Aragua. Chilean prosecutors have maintained that the crime, which occurred in February 2024, had a 'political motive.'
The suspects will be held in a high-security prison while they face judicial proceedings. To date, 26 people have been detained in connection with the case, including 19 awaiting trial and three already convicted. The trial for the Ojeda case is currently scheduled to begin on October 20.
