Peruvian courts conduct 24-hour extraordinary judicial session

Judicial courts in Peru participated in a national 24-hour extraordinary session aimed at reducing case backlogs. The initiative, which began at midnight on Friday, August 14, involved judges and administrative staff working extended hours to process pending files, resolutions, and notifications.

The Superior Court of Justice of Arequipa recorded the highest number of actions among the 35 participating courts in the country, processing 65,037 procedural acts. These actions included sentences, decrees, and the entry of new files. The effort spanned over 100 jurisdictional bodies, including locations like Orcopampa, despite freezing temperatures.

In Lambayeque, the Superior Court of Justice also joined the national effort, involving various criminal, civil, and labor modules across multiple provinces such as Chiclayo, Jaén, and Ferreñafe. The Lambayeque court achieved third place in its designated group during the session.
