Peruvian cumbia group La Bella Luz to be featured in new television series

Del Barrio Producciones has signed an agreement with the founders of the iconic Peruvian cumbia orchestra La Bella Luz, Óscar Custodio Chavesta and Pilar Torres, to develop a television series chronicling the group's origin and evolution. The series will trace the band's birth in Monsefú, Lambayeque in 1994 and its three‑decade journey, highlighting the family’s challenges and decisions that turned a regional project into a nationally renowned act. Michelle Alexander, general director of Del Barrio Producciones, said the program aims to show “the human side behind the success” and present a story that goes beyond the music.

The production will include interviews with founder Óscar Custodio Chavesta and his son Óscar Junior Custodio (known as “Senderito”), who emphasize that the series will introduce new generations to the orchestra’s early years and the sacrifices that kept it thriving for over thirty years.
