Peruvian Deputy Julián Pérez Mallqui Faces Ethics Probe and Suspension Over Alleged Violence
Peruvian congressman Julián Pérez Mallqui of Juntos por el Perú has been accused of physical and psychological aggression against his former partner. Evidence released by media outlets includes 45‑46 phone calls, WhatsApp messages, video surveillance of his entry into the victim’s home in San Miguel, and a testimony that he assaulted her inside a police station. The alleged abuse occurred on 30 July 2026, shortly after Pérez Mallqui took office.
Multiple parliamentary groups have responded. Renovación Popular’s deputy Christian Aranda filed a formal ethics complaint seeking the maximum sanction and a 120‑day suspension of Pérez Mallqui’s salary. Juntos por el Perú’s spokesperson Ernesto Zunini publicly recommended a temporary suspension while the investigation proceeds, and the party has asked its own disciplinary commission to open a case. The Ethics Commission of the Congress is set to convene in the coming days to decide on sanctions.
Legal experts say the gathered material could support criminal charges for serious injury and gender‑based violence, while the parliamentary process will determine any administrative penalties. The case remains under investigation by the Public Ministry and the congressional Ethics Commission.
