Peruvian industries focus on electrification and regulatory modernization
Logistics operations in Peru are increasingly transitioning from combustion-powered forklifts to electric equipment using lithium batteries. This shift, particularly in the agro-industry, manufacturing, and distribution sectors, aims to reduce operational costs, improve worker safety, and enhance sustainability. Companies like MAQ have reported efficiency gains through digital tools, such as reducing order preparation times from 20 to three minutes.
In the mining sector, the Sociedad Nacional de Industrias (SNI) and SUCAMEC are advocating for the modernization of regulatory frameworks regarding civil explosives. Data from SUCAMEC indicates that mining accounts for approximately 78% of authorizations for the acquisition and use of explosives. Industry leaders are calling for administrative simplification and the adoption of digital tools for the manufacturing, storage, and transport of explosives, while maintaining strict safety and oversight standards.
