Peruvian police dismantle two criminal gangs in Lima and Arequipa

The National Police of Peru (PNP) raided an extortion ring known as “Los Malditos Carroñeros” in the Lima East districts of San Martín de Porres and Callao. Four suspects were arrested, including street comedian Walter Quispe Gonzales, who acted as a “profile‑maker” for victims. Police seized two dynamite cartridges, five cell phones, nine chip‑cards, a fingerprint replica and a black car, and identified two Peruvian and two Venezuelan members of the gang.

In a separate operation in Arequipa’s Río Seco commercial platform, officers captured two alleged members of the “Los Invisibles del Río Seco” group, suspected of receiving and selling stolen mobile phones. Eleven phones worth about S/10,000 were confiscated and will be examined for provenance. The bust is part of the PNP’s “Terminales Móviles 2026” campaign to curb illegal cellphone trade.
