Peruvian prosecutors investigate sculptor Luis Sifuentes

The Peruvian Public Ministry has opened an investigation into sculptor Luis Sifuentes, known as ‘Mamanka’, following allegations of sexual exploitation and rape of a Colombian national. The complainant alleges that Sifuentes abused her in Colombia in 2019 when she was 14 years old and subsequently paid to transport her to Lima, where she became pregnant as a result of the repeated abuse.

The investigation covers suspected crimes of aggravated human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and sexual rape. The case gained public attention following a report by the television program Cuarto Poder, which also detailed allegations of physical violence against the victim.

Following legal demands from the mother, the Minister of Women and Vulnerable Populations, Mara Seminario, announced that the child resulting from the abuse has been placed under the custody of the Special Protection Unit (UPE) of the Ministry.
