Peruvian regulator OSIPTEL trains telecom operators in Piura on device blocking

The Peruvian telecom regulator OSIPTEL held a training session for customer‑service staff of Movistar and Entel on May 12 in the port city of Paita, Piura region. The program covered how to register foreign‑bought mobile phones on the “white list” of the National Registry of Mobile Terminal Equipment for Security (Renteseg) to avoid automatic blocking, and how to guide foreign citizens on service contracts, process consumer complaints and apply compensation for fixed‑line internet outages.

OSIPTEL said similar workshops will be offered in the coming weeks for staff of Claro and Bitel. Operators and users can seek assistance at OSIPTEL’s regional office on Arequipa 1074 in Piura, call the help line 1844, or use the online “Te Ayudamos” portal.
