Peruvian teachers union in Puno rejects Keiko Fujimori's presidency, vows protest

The regional teachers union (Sutep) in Puno, Peru, announced it will not recognize Keiko Fujimori as president. Union leader Alexander Pilco Ticona said the election was “imposed” and accused Fujimori of planning to govern like her father, describing his rule as a "dictatorship that pursued, intimidated and jailed leaders."

The union said it will “build walls of teachers’ resistance” and has scheduled protests for July 15, the day official credentials are to be handed to the new presidential ticket. Pilco Ticona warned that the mobilisations could be extended beyond that date.
