Pescara inaugurates DesTEENazione youth center in former courthouse
The city of Pescara has inaugurated ‘DesTEENazione – Desideri in Azione’, a new multifunctional space dedicated to young people aged 11 to 21. Located in a section of the former courthouse in Piazza Alessandrini that had remained unused for decades, the center was promoted by the Municipality of Pescara and funded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies.
The project received a total investment of approximately 3.44 million euros under the National Program for Inclusion and the Fight against Poverty 2021-2027. This includes over 3 million euros for project activities and 417,300 euros from the European Regional Development Fund for infrastructural improvements.
Managed through a collaboration between the municipality and eleven third-sector entities, the center is staffed by 27 professionals, including educators, psychologists, and coordinators. Starting October 22, the facility will offer free activities such as socio-educational workshops, school dropout prevention, vocational guidance, and psychological support for youth and their families. The center will operate Monday through Saturday, with extended hours on select Fridays.
