Pescara waste piles spark health concerns and parking disputes

Residents of Via Barbolini in Pescara reported that recently moved waste bins were placed next to a disabled‑parking zone, eliminating several reserved spots and creating new inconvenience for locals. The relocation, intended to curb illegal dumping, appears to have shifted the problem rather than solved it.

A separate complaint highlighted a broader waste‑management crisis in the city's ex‑Ferro di Cavallo area and surrounding streets. Accumulated bags of unsorted trash, abandoned appliances and other debris have attracted pigeons, gulls, rats and mosquitoes, raising immediate sanitary and public‑health risks. Local officials, waste‑service company Ambiente S.p.A., and the municipal administration are being urged to increase staffing, upgrade collection equipment, install surveillance cameras and create neighborhood ecological islands to address the growing hazard.
