Peshawar imposes Section 144 ahead of Independence Day

The Peshawar district administration has imposed Section 144 to regulate public activities ahead of Pakistan's Independence Day celebrations on August 14. The restrictions, which remain in effect until August 15, aim to prevent accidents, public nuisance, and disorder.

Prohibited activities include aerial firing, the sale and purchase of firecrackers, toy pistols, and toy horns (baajas). Authorities have also banned 'one-wheeling' motorcycle stunts to mitigate safety risks to motorists and pedestrians.

Deputy Commissioner Captain (retired) Sana Ullah Khan issued the notification, stating that the measures are intended to protect human life and reduce excessive noise. Violators of these orders face legal action under the Pakistan Penal Code.
