Pet Carpet Film Festival to honor Saint Francis in Rome

The ninth edition of the Pet Carpet Film Festival is scheduled to take place in Rome from September 25 to 27, 2026. Held at the Casa del Cinema, the international film festival focuses on the relationship between humans and animals, covering both domestic pets and wildlife.

This edition pays tribute to Saint Francis of Assisi, marking the 800th anniversary of his passing. The event will feature a unique hosting trio consisting of artistic director Federica Rinaudo, missionary brother Antonio D’Errico, and Francesco, a former homeless person accompanied by his dog, Tommaso.

The festival will open with the national premiere of the short film ‘Senza di me’, produced by the National Federation of Italian Veterinary Orders (Fnovi), which highlights the essential role of veterinarians in daily life.
