Pet Shop Boys release Alan Turing tribute album ‘A Man From The Future’

British synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys have released ‘A Man From The Future’, a concept album serving as a musical memorial to computer science pioneer Alan Turing. The project, which was originally conceived over a decade ago and performed at the BBC Proms in 2014, has been reworked and rearranged for this new release.

The album combines electronic music with orchestral arrangements by Sven Helbig and features the Manchester Camerata Octet. It utilizes spoken word narration by actress Juliet Stevenson, based on Andrew Hodges’ biography ‘Alan Turing: The Enigma’.

The work follows a chronological narrative of Turing’s life, including his role in cracking the German Enigma code during World War II, his contributions to the invention of the digital computer, his predictions regarding artificial intelligence, and the legal persecution he faced due to his sexuality before his death in 1954.
