Petaling Jaya Half Marathon 2026 cancelled due to haze

The Petaling Jaya Half Marathon 2026, scheduled for September 6 in Selangor, Malaysia, has been cancelled due to unhealthy air quality levels. The decision was made by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and organiser Puncak Ventures SRA after assessing that the Air Pollutant Index (API) posed health risks to runners, volunteers, and staff.

While forecasts suggested air quality might improve within 24 hours, current readings remained at unhealthy levels. Organisers provided an alternative 5km route for those wishing to continue running, with specific start times for various categories.

Regarding compensation, registration terms state that no automatic refunds are provided when cancellations result from unavoidable or unsafe weather-related conditions. Participants can still collect race entitlements at Laman MBPJ during a designated window.
