Peter Bon Jallah convicted of statutory rape and kidnapping in Liberia

Peter Bon Jallah, a 63-year-old staff member of Liberia’s National Security Agency (NSA), has been found guilty of statutory rape and kidnapping by Criminal Court “E” at the Temple of Justice. The verdict, delivered on Friday, October 23, 2026, by Assigned Circuit Judge Wesseh Alphonsus Wesseh Sr., follows a trial involving a 16-year-old boy.

While the prosecution successfully established grounds for the statutory rape and kidnapping charges, Judge Wesseh acquitted Jallah of the gang rape charge, citing insufficient evidence to support a conviction on that specific count.

Following the ruling, the judge ordered Jallah to be remanded at Monrovia Central Prison. The court has requested a pre-sentence and behavioral report from the Bureau of Probation Services at the Ministry of Justice to assist in determining an appropriate sentence. The defense, represented by Cllr. Wilfred Sayeh, has announced intentions to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court of Liberia.
