Peter Obi outlines 2027 campaign platform and challenges Tinubu
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has unveiled a comprehensive platform for the 2027 general election during a series of town hall meetings and campaign events across Nigeria. Obi has pledged to declare a state of emergency on corruption, education, and power generation if elected. His energy and electricity plan includes a commitment to generate, transmit, and distribute at least 10,000 megawatts of electricity to stimulate industrial growth.
During his tour through states including Enugu, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, and Nasarawa, Obi addressed critical national issues such as insecurity, unemployment, and poverty. He vowed to take a direct role in tackling kidnapping, stating he would personally participate in rescue missions in the bush. Obi also promised to establish primary healthcare centres in every political ward and prioritize national unity to prevent regional divisions.
Obi has also leveled significant criticisms against President Bola Tinubu, questioning the administration's management of nearly $100 billion in borrowed funds. He challenged the President to account for these loans and criticized his perceived lack of competence and energy to govern. In response to political developments in Lagos, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed Obi as a threat, claiming they have rectified previous electoral mistakes in the state.
