Peter Obi disputes Anambra debt claims and calls for academic record release

Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, is currently involved in several political and financial disputes. He has challenged the Anambra State Government to provide evidence for claims that his administration left behind unpaid debts, including salaries, pensions, and contractor liabilities. Obi maintains that he cleared all historical arrears exceeding N35 billion and left approximately N2 billion in an ecological fund account specifically for erosion control projects.

Simultaneously, Obi has called for transparency by challenging the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and other institutions he attended to release his academic records for public scrutiny. He also responded to allegations regarding FBI files, stating he has no knowledge of any such records and has had no dealings with the agency.

On a personal note, Obi addressed public scrutiny regarding his wife Margaret Obi’s luxury lifestyle, asserting that she earns her own income through her business and is entitled to spend it as she chooses. He also commented on his relationship with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, stating that despite their political differences, he holds no personal grudge and views Wike as a friend.
