Peter Okoye testifies in ₦1.38 bn fraud case against brother Jude as P‑Square feud escalates

Singer Peter Okoye, known as Mr P, gave testimony in Lagos Federal High Court that his elder brother Jude Okoye and Jude’s company Northside Music Limited diverted about ₦1.38 billion (≈ $1 million) from the former P‑Square duo’s royalties. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting the alleged fraud, alleging that payments from digital streaming platforms were routed to accounts controlled by Jude’s wife and that Peter was removed as a signatory on the group’s bank accounts.

Peter’s accusations have reignited the long‑running family dispute that began after the brothers split in 2017. Other Nigerian content creators, including Waga G and Xxssive, have publicly urged Peter to reconcile with his brothers and accused him of using the controversy for publicity. Social‑media commentator Izu Obasi warned that anyone who can divert a brother’s funds could be capable of more extreme actions, further fueling online debate. A Federal Capital Territory police spokesperson posted a photo with Peter, captioned “#IbelievePeter,” which was interpreted as an endorsement of his position.

The feud, which once saw P‑Square reunite in 2021, now centers on financial transparency, royalty sharing and management control, with both sides maintaining legal and public campaigns.
