Přeštice bypass construction delayed due to archaeological finds
The construction of the 5.3-kilometer Přeštice bypass on road I/27 has faced further delays and expected cost increases. Originally scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, the project is now expected to be operational between October and November 2027.
The Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) attributed the delay to extensive archaeological discoveries made during excavation. While the contractor focuses on bridge construction and laying road layers in completed sections, the project's original budget of 788 million CZK is expected to rise due to the nearly one-year delay. The contractor is currently preparing documentation to calculate the additional costs.
Local traffic is currently affected by road closures, including the II/183 road from Přeštice to Skočice. Further restrictions are planned for early 2025 on the II/230 road toward Žerovice, with subsequent connections to the existing network scheduled for summer and autumn 2027.
