Petřín funicular to resume service in Prague after two-year reconstruction
The Petřín funicular in Prague is scheduled to resume passenger service on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, following a two-year reconstruction. The Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) will initially operate the line in a trial mode. New fourth-generation carriages, manufactured by the Doppelmayr/Garaventa group for 137.7 million CZK, will feature increased capacity of 120 passengers and enhanced glass surfaces for better city views.
Service will run daily from 07:00 to 22:15 with departures approximately every ten minutes between the Újezd and Petřín stations. A new stop configuration will be implemented at Nebozízek, where cars will only stop when traveling uphill.
With the reopening, single-use ticket prices will increase. Paper tickets will rise from 60 CZK to 100 CZK, while electronic tickets purchased via the PID Lítačka app will cost 90 CZK. Long-term PID passes, as well as 24-hour and 72-hour tickets, remain unchanged. Children under 15 and seniors over 65 will continue to use the funicular free of charge.
