War Memorials in Croatia and Bosnia Mark 35th and 34th Homeland‑War Anniversaries

In Petrinja, Croatia, officials and residents commemorated the 35th anniversary of Josipa Kožić’s death, the first civilian casualty of the Homeland War. A ceremony with wreaths, candles, a minute of silence and remarks from the mayor and local officials was held at the site of the 1991 attack.

In Vinkovci, Croatia, the community marked the Day of the Stjepan Radić Parish Council with a Mass and a gathering in front of the parish church. Mayor Josip Romić highlighted recent infrastructure projects, including a new school and sports facilities, and paid tribute to local war veterans.

In Tomislavgrad, Bosnia‑Herzegovina, the 34th anniversary of the Brigade Kralja Tomislava was observed. The program included a Holy Mass, a wreath‑laying procession, the presentation of Božo Papić’s monograph on the brigade, and a concert by the “Sv. Juraj” choir. Representatives of veterans’ associations, local politicians and the Minister of Veterans’ Affairs attended, stressing the brigade’s historic role in the war.
