Petrobras awards Strohm contract for deepwater TCP trials in Brazil

Petrobras has awarded a contract to Strohm B.V. and its subsidiary, Strohm Brasil, to supply thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) for its post-salt cluster offshore Brazil. The agreement encompasses the supply, qualification testing, project engineering, field services, and support for offshore trials and installation.

The TCP will be utilized for water injection and gas lift applications at water depths reaching up to 1,500 meters. During the project, the technology will be assessed under actual operating conditions, including its handling and compatibility with installation from Petrobras’ existing fleet of pipe lay vessels.

Manufactured from carbon or glass fiber reinforced with polyethylene or polyamide, these pipes are lighter and easier to handle than traditional rigid or flexible pipe solutions. The non-corrosive, spoolable pipelines are designed to provide long-term reliability without associated maintenance costs while allowing for ongoing integrity inspections.
