PETRONAS donates RM1.2 million in STEM kits to Sarawak schools

PETRONAS has donated 60 mobile Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) kits worth RM1.2 million to schools across Sarawak, with a focus on prioritizing rural and underserved communities. The kits, which include 50 science models and interactive tools such as electronic circuit kits and life-size human skeletons, are designed to facilitate hands-on learning.

Distribution of the kits will be coordinated by Pertubuhan Aspirasi Guru Sarawak (PAGS) in collaboration with District Education Offices. The initiative aims to support Sarawak’s goal of increasing the number of upper secondary students in STEM streams to over 60 percent by 2030, up from the current 36.37 percent.

Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, emphasized that practical exposure is essential for developing problem-solving skills and preparing a skilled workforce for future industry needs.
