Petroperú workers question Proinversión intervention amid improved financial reports
The National Federation of Oil Workers of Peru (FENPETROL) has questioned the effectiveness of Proinversión’s intervention in the state-owned company Petroperú following reports of preliminary financial improvements.
According to data released by the union, Petroperú reportedly accumulated an EBITDA exceeding US$ 600 million between January and September, with net profits surpassing US$ 120 million. During the third quarter alone, the EBITDA is estimated to have exceeded US$ 150 million. FENPETROL noted that these figures are preliminary and await official publication.
The federation argues that these results demonstrate the operational and commercial capacity of the company and the efforts of its workers, who have maintained operations despite wage freezes and financial difficulties. FENPETROL further criticized Proinversión, claiming that delays in accessing necessary financing limited the company’s ability to capitalize on favorable commercial conditions.
